‘Westworld’ trailer released by HBO

With gorgeous visuals and dark themes, HBOs Westworld stands ready to take the plunge into the Weird West waters of contemporary television. Will HBO’s move into the fantastical succeed where so many have failed? This a question that many weird west enthusiasts have. Whether or not mainstream audiences will be able to digest such a mashup remains to be scene; for now all we can do is wait and see what kind of tale Jonathan Nolan plans to tell.

“The one-hour drama series Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.”

The movie is inspired by the motion picture Westworldwritten and directed by Michael Chrichton. Westworld is produced by Bad Robot Productions and is executive produced, written and directed by Jonathan Nolan, executive produced and written by Lisa Joy, and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, Bryan Burk.

The all star cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth and Clifton Collins, Jr.
