Both Cat Grant and Superman will make their return to Supergirl for the 2 part Finale of Season 2.
Calista Flockhart and Tyler Hoechlin have both been off the show since Episode 2 of this season, “The Last Children of Krypton. There was much speculation when and why each character would return to Supergirl with both actors having a reoccurring guest role with the series.

The last time we saw Cat she decided it was time for her to move on from CatCo and left the company in the hands of Jimmy Olsen. Flockhart who took a lesser role with the show when the production was moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Flockhart has been known to be real picky about her acting choices, only taking roles filming in the LA area where her family lives
As for Superman he returned back home to Metropolis after helping his cousin defeat Metallo. We knew Superman would return to the show but didn’t know when. A Superman spin off was put to rest earlier this year when CW President Mark Pedowitz said “..there are no plans to do it and there have been no discussions about it,”
It will be interesting to see what brings these two major characters back to National City as Supergirl returns Monday, April 24th on The CW
