‘Star Trek: Discovery’ season 2 trailer (SDCC 2018)

Star Trek: Discovery returns in 2019, plus the Star Trek universe will expand

During the Star Trek: Discovery panel at SDCC, series’ executive producer and newly appointed showrunner Alex Kurtzman announced a Star Trek mini spinoff series of shorts that will air beginning in December. The idea is to whet Trekkies’ appetites until the season 2 premiere of Discovery in January.

“Each short will consist of a stand-alone story, each running 10-15 minutes, serving as an opportunity for deeper storytelling and exploration of key characters and themes that fit into Star Trek: Discovery and the expanding Star Trek universe, according to producers…”

The panel started off with a first-look trailer  of the season two premiere. Within the trailer fans will notice some really big character reveals, that will no doubt excite fans of Trek. Additionally, Kurtzman stated, “I can tell you that yes, you will be seeing Spock this season”. Also, it was revealed that Rebecca Romijn will join the season in the role of Number One. Yes, that number one. Originally, the role was played by Majel Barrett Roddenberry and since then has become a fan favorite within the Trek tie-in media.
