Lucasfilm announces ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ TV Spinoff

Disney releases news on another upcoming Live-Action Streaming Series

Today Lucasfilm and Disney announced that they were planning a live-action series based on a character from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The prequel series, described as a “rousing spy thriller,” will follow the daring missions of rebel spy Cassian Andor, ally to criminal-turned-soldier Jyn Erso, during the formative years of the Empire.

The Rogue One spinoff series marks the second Star Wars series that Lucasfilm has in development for the Disney streaming platform. The streaming service is set to launch in late 2019 and will include various Disney properies including movies, TV shows and more. It was previously announced that Jon Favreau was developing a Star Wars series titled The Mandalorian for the streaming platform. 

There has been no casting announces outside of Diego Luna, who will be reprising his roles as Cassian Andor but it’s safe to assume that the news will be pouring in very soon. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated. Until then, may the force be with you.
