From The Holodeck: Lower Decks Edition – 2.02 ‘Kayshon, His Eyes Open’ [Discussion]

Star Trek: Lower Decks – Discussion / Review

Star Trek: From the Holodeck is a fan broadcast dedicated to breaking down, analyzing and discussing all things Star Trek.

This week Mike and Dave discuss Star Trek: Lower Decks 2.02 ‘Kayshon, His Eyes Open’.

Topics Discussed:

  • Okay, so this episode. Wow. There are a lot of things in this episode that can be called “FIRING SHOTS”
  • It was blatantly obvious that Mike McMahan and his team were presenting an argument for the return to the earlier days of Trek
  • But, although the message is obvious, I don’t believe it’s meant to be as scathing as people are reporting
  • Lower Decks once again falling into those Star Trek tropes and using the art of parody to tell a unique original story
  • Because on top of making a statement about the two versions of trek, they also put the duality of the trek franchises and films under the spotlight as they contrast the differences in STARFLEET’s agenda
