Supergirl’s James Olsen Will Become Another One of DC’s Superheroes

Entertainment Weekly has broke the news that former Superman sidekick James Olsen is getting a serious upgrade. Olsen will become the show’s version of Guardian.

According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg:
‘These next few episodes are going to make him realize that being a photographer… is not enough for him, so he’s going to go on a pretty exciting career trajectory that we’re really pumped by. James is going to decide that he can no longer sit back and be a sidekick, so he’s going to decide to become a vigilante and he’s going to become Guardian — complete with the shield — which is going to cause a massive problem in his relationship with Kara [Melissa Benoist], because he has decided not to tell her”.

Not quite sure how this will affect the show but with the move to The CW I’m sure they are planning even bigger story lines with more villains and heroes.

Here’s a bit of information on the Guardian

Guardian (James Jacob “Jim” Harper) is a DC Comics superhero, created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. He first appeared in Star-Spangled Comics #7 (April 1942). Guardian resembles an earlier Kirby and Simon character Captain America (first published in March 1941 by Marvel Comics) in that he had no super powers and carried an indestructible shield.
